IN DEVELOPMENT IN 2016
Premiere in September
The Aeneid, the epic Latin poem that tells story of the people who left a burning Troy in order to found Rome.
It”s a great story. It also is a piece of propaganda.
It’s the foundation myth of the Roman people from which they derived their identity and from which Augustus derived his divine authority.
Collapsing Horse are bringing this ancient tale to life with their brand of simple, theatrical magic. In the context of this time of pageantry and memorialisation, this is a celebration of myth and an interrogation of its relationship to the truth.
This project was developed as part of Theatre Artist in Residency programme with in the Civic Theatre and with an Arts Council Project Award. It had work-in-progress showings in the Civic Theatre and as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival’s “In-Development” strand in the Project Arts Centre in September/October 2014.
